I advocate for a balanced lifestyle that nourishes the body, mind, and spirit. This includes proper nutrition, adequate rest, stress management and resilience refinement techniques, and fostering positive mindsets. I assist in the cultivation of habits that promote overall health and vitality to empower athletes to thrive both inside and outside of the gym and embrace lifelong wellness as their ultimate goal. But most people don’t really understand what resilience entails…

“Despite” means it’s not simply about waiting for adversity, but also about being proactive and planning ahead.

“Adversity” is about both the big challenges in life, but also the minor everyday things that can challenge our patience.

Hello Driven

So why work with a resilience coach?

Research also indicates that resiliency can be built. The purpose of working with a resilience coach is to provide you with the requisite skills to manage your emotions and develop and maintain resiliency. Together we will help you learn more about yourself and how to build resiliency, which will enable you to thrive in times of adversity, change and stress. You will learn about the importance of building resiliency skills to turn change and stress into opportunities and challenges, to live life zestfully, and to take positive actions in order to live your life with less stress.

Your coach will take you through various self-reflection exercises, journaling prompts that highlight topics of importance, assessments that are designed to gauge where you are with your resilience levels and learn of ways to refine them, and exploratory activities that aid in opening your mind to the possibilities of a stress-free and holistically healthy lifestyle.

A resilience coach can help you:

  • Become aware of the primary motivators that guide behavior

  • Explore and learn to identify potentially harmful situations

  • Explore the effects of messages received in childhood

  • Gain insight that will guide behavioral change

  • Focus thinking on behavioral goals for change

  • Uncover resources that can help to cope with problems and difficulties

  • Explore personal characteristics without judgement

  • Develop full awareness of personal strengths and weaknesses

Resilience is one of the most valuable and far-reaching life skills you can develop. It helps you stay motivated, build confidence, and achieve a lasting sense of wellbeing that no one can take away from you.

Resilience is about being connected with people. It’s about sharing the important things in life. It’s about people working together to reduce stress and create supportive environments. It’s about a broad set of skills and traits. It’s also about being proactive and planning ahead. It’s something anyone can learn and improve.

There are six domains of resilience, and subsequently six ways a coach can help...

Vision

Vision is about your sense of purpose, goals, and what matters in your life.

I can work with you to identify your purpose, understand what is and is not important, help you become more decisive, and teach you to focus your attention on what really matters.

Health

Physical health is the foundation of individual resilience. It provides you with the strength and vitality to live life to the fullest.

I can work with you to develop healthy lifestyle habits through setting health goals, creating a personalized training regimen, and offering one-on-one functional fitness coaching.

Composure

Composure is about being aware of your moods and mental state and having the ability to manage your stress and regulate your emotions.

I can work with you to practice emotional regulation through breathing, help you identify your internal emotional awareness, assist you in understanding mindfulness, and provide you the ability to reappraise your emotions.

Tenacity

Tenacity is your ability to be persistent, bounce back after setbacks, and keep yourself motivated through the ups and downs.

I can work with you to refine and maintain a sense of realistic optimism, work with you to manage your time and schedule effectively, and push you to stay motivated.

Reasoning

Reasoning is your ability to creatively solve problems, think ahead, and be resourceful. It’s about being proactive and prepared.

I can work with you to develop skills that help you adapt better to changes around you, provide you with tools to help solve problems, and connect you with people that can help you through difficult challenges.

Collaboration

Collaboration is about the human need for meaningful connections with others. We are inherently social beings.

I can work with you to identify your current support networks, invest in current or new support networks, fine-tune your social skills, practice your verbal and non-verbal skills, and provide mentoring through your growth process.

What does resilience coaching consist of?

You will be encouraged to complete assessments, journaling activities and exercises. Because active involvement and “doing” is as important as learning theories, it is critical that you take the time to complete all of the skill-building exercises assigned to you by your coach.
